Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large area that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently cited, however her short time in the city did not last long. Brugel was raised on Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. Then, a growth increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet, 1 inch." After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation by her teacher in drama. It was her teacher who advised her to audition for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the annual school production. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she has performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most notable role was that of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor in Season 1 which was viewed only at times.
